If being a 16-time champion and billboard charting artist wasn’t enough, John Cena is now making headlines for being the newest recipient of the Muhammad Ali Legacy Award for philanthropy.
The 41-year-old, better known for his hardcore personality in the world of wrestling, is now being recognized for a more sentimental role. Cena is being awarded by Sports Illustrated for his recent charitable ventures with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and his dedication to cancer research and awareness.
To be considered part of Muhammad Ali’s legacy and be added to this incredible list of athletes is something I never dreamed could be possible. Thank you for this honor, I’ll do my best to live up to its reputation. https://t.co/CYleNIZO3g

The Muhammad Ali Legacy Award was previously presented to notable athletes including Colin Kaepernick, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson. The Legacy Award was originally created in 2008 and later renamed to honor the late Muhammad Ali and his contribution to the world of boxing and American sports.
John Cena will be presented with the Legacy Award on December 11, in Los Angeles, CA. during the annual Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year event.
