We love the battles between the two of the top three players from the 2003 NBA Draft but they may be joining forces finally after all these years.
Maybe.
After Carmelo Anthony tried with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets, the 34-year old forward is looking for yet another home. It’s been rumored that the new home is Los Angeles with LeBron James and the young team. In Cleveland, James had some power when it came to who the front office would pick up. Does he have the same authority with the Lakers? He was asked about the possibilty of Anthony joining the Lakers.
“I have no idea to be honest. That’s not a question to ask me. Right now we have 15 roster spots right? We don’t even have a roster spot open right now. But that’s not a question for myself,” per SB Nation.
What a safe answer. He’s right about the roster but adjustments can always be made.
Anthony getting cut in the last two seasons have made him look like “the problem”. The Thunder made the playoffs last year with their “big 3” (Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Anthony) but lost to the Jazz in the first round. Rockets believed Anthony was the reason for their losing record even though he was coming off the bench. Anthony was averaging 13.4 points per game, 5.4 rebounds and shooting at 41%. However, since Anthony has been out, the Rockets have managed to get over 500 at 8-7.
Wherever Anthony plans to go, I believe this will be his last shot. For $231 million, I doubt he minds run around.
