Many spectators had Tyson Fury edging out Deontay Wilder in their thrilling heavyweight bout, including Floyd Mayweather who reportedly stormed out of Staples Center after the split decision draw.
Mayweather was interviewed after the fifth round of the fight and was critical of Wilder and his knockout style.
“Wilder is dependent on just one shot – he’s looking for one big shot – and as a fighter, you have to use other weapons. Fury has the combinations, and a very, very fast jab and is taking his time so it’s looks like, if Wilder doesn’t do anything else, Fury’s going to win if it goes the distance.”
Wilder apparently heard the noise and was none to pleased that Floyd was also pulling for Fury. On the cusp of making “Mayweather money”, Wilder theorizes his rise to stardom in boxing has made Money Mayweather a jealous hater.
“I’m coming, and it’s a lot of fighters that’s jealous of me for no reason. I’ve never said nothing bad about no one, I’ve always wished them well.”
