The battle of the NFC East has always been tense as it’s one of the most competitive divisions in the league. Even when all the teams have ok records.
The trash-talking has begun over the Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. The 7-5 Cowboys currently lead the division after their shocking win against the New Orleans Saints but the Eagles are right behind them with a 6-6 record. Last time these two met (November 11), the Eagles lost by one touchdown and Eagles linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill says it’s different now since it’s December and we should all know what happens to the Cowboys in December.
Since the Tony Romo era, Cowboys have only two winning Decembers between 2006 and 2013 according to USA Today.
“I mean, you look at Dallas’ history, they always choke,” Grugier-Hill said. “So we’ll go down there and make them choke.”
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott won’t let Grugier-Hill or the curse phase him.
“We’re focused on ourselves in this locker room about what we need to do to get better in each and every phase of this game to be ready for this week. We’re not worried about he say, she say,” Prescott said.
Carson Wentz chimed in after his teammate’s statement. “I try not to make any game bigger than another game. That’s the approach we all have. We don’t treat it any differently.”
Understandable but it’s a win Eagles need. With a win over the Cowboys, they will be tied for the top spot in the NFC East. If they lose, they will be behind two games with three games left and two of three are the LA Rams and the Houston Texans who are on a nine-game winning streak.
Cowboys are the favorite in this matchup which makes sense after their win over Drew Brees and the Saints. Let’s see if the December curse still exist this Sunday.
