Dedrick Devonshay Williams has been the only suspect arrested and charged for the murder of rapper XXXtentacion. On Monday the Ft. Lauderdale native pleaded not guilty to the crime with his lawyer Mauricio Padilla saying he will continue to “maintain his innocence.”
Padilla continues:
It’s difficult when you’re dealing with media cases because as you know they take a life of their own nowadays with social media. But we’re really focused on trying this case in a court of law and not in the court of public opinion.
Williams is the alleged driver of the SUV used to block XXXtentacion’s vehicle from escaping the scene. Responding officers were initially under the impression that there was one other suspect involved, but that has now been bumped up to two. Arrest warrants have been issued for Robert Allen and an unnamed suspect have been issued. Police are actively looking for Robert Allen after this surveillance video from the motorcycle dealership where XXX was murdered.
This charge is not only a violent crime, but a violation of Williams’ probation. He is being remanded in court until trial.
