There’s never a dull moment in the world of celebrities, especially when it comes to superstar rapper Drake. A recent incident involving an intruder trying to break into Drake’s house, followed by the shooting and hospitalization of the star’s security guard has everyone buzzing.
Just imagine, you’re minding your own business, living your best life in your luxurious mansion, and suddenly some random person decides to try and break into your home. That’s exactly what happened to Drake, who was thankfully not home at the time. But his security guard wasn’t so lucky. The poor guy ended up getting shot during the altercation and had to be rushed to the hospital.
The person was detained under the Mental Health Act, a police spokesman said.
In Ontario, the Mental Health Act allows police to detain a person if the officer has reasonable doubt to believe that person is acting disorderly and is a threat to themselves or others.
Just yesterday, one of Drake‘s security guards had to be hospitalized after being shot near the rapper’s mansion.
The security guard was shot in the chest and was unconscious when police arrived, cops told CBC Toronto.
According to preliminary evidence, the attack seems to have been a drive-by shooting.
It’s unclear if Drake – real name Aubrey Graham – was home at the time, but police said he and his team were cooperating with the investigation.
A bird’s-eye-view image of Drake’s home, often referred to as The Embassy, was used in the cover art of Kendrick Lamar’s latest single Not Like Us.
It is the fourth diss track directed at Drake by Lamar as part of the two’s ongoing feud, which has escalated since March.
In the song, Lamar made many accusations against Drake and his inner circle and hinted that more tracks were to come.
Drake responded with The Heart Part 6, denying the allegations made by Lamar and saying that his team fed Lamar false information.
On social media, Drake predicted Lamar would eventually respond with another diss writing, “And we know you’re dropping 6 mins after so instead of posting my address you have a lot to address.”
Despite this, there is nothing that proves that the feud has any correlation to the incidents at Drake’s home.
The Bridle Path is the wealthiest neighborhood in Canada and is often called Millionaires Row.
Drake’s mansion is believed to have cost an estimated $100 million.
Thankfully, the security guard is said to be recovering well from the ordeal. But one thing’s for sure – whoever is behind these break-in attempts better think twice before messing with Drake and his team again. After all, you don’t become one of the biggest names in the music industry by being a pushover.
