Boxing history is about to be made as Mike Tyson and Jake Paul square off, as they are set to shatter a record that has been in place for more than 60 years. The heavyweight fight between Paul and Tyson is slated to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on July 20. It is expected to be one of the most anticipated events of the year.
Reversing early rumors that the fight would be an exhibition, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has approved the fight as a professional fight.
Although Tyson hasn’t engaged in a professional fight since June 2005, when he was defeated by Kevin McBribe, the former world heavyweight champion has an amazing record of having engaged in over 50 fights during his illustrious career.
Tyson and Jake Paul About to break an incredible record
Conversely, Jake Paul, who has a 9-1 record and has fought in 10 professional fights, is getting ready to take on the legendary boxer. Tyson, who will be 58 years old at the time of their fight, will face the 27-year-old “Problem Child.”
The two combatants’ startling age difference of 31 years would break the previous record of 24 years, which was set in 1963, in the history of professional boxing.
Archie Moore, 49, and Mike DiBiase, 25, had the largest age difference in a professional boxing battle, according to ESPN. The legendary boxer, who last competed professionally at the age of 38, has made a stunning comeback, entering the ring at the age of 58.
