Adding to his ‘dirtbag’ reputation, Tiki Barber is being sued by a company for fraudently passing his himself off as ‘happily married. The company says he did this to score some quick cash. TMZ.com reports that the company gave the couple stock in return for PR, only to learn later, “…Barber was engaged in an adulterous affair with a twenty-three year old intern, Traci Lynn Johnson and intended to divorce Ginny Barber, with whom he had already fathered two children and who was pregnant at that time with twins.”
The company suing Barber is Tricera Revolution Inc., a company that manufactures state-of-art indoor cycling studios. The felt the Barber’s would be great spokespersons for their company because they presented themselves as “happily married, celebrity couple who were know to attend cycling classes together.”
The company feels that the promotion is now worthless with the couple going through divorce due to the affair.
Time seems to peel back the layers of a carefully crafted public persona for Barber. Tiki has already claimed broke to get out of paying for a divorce settlement, and I’m sure he’ll be using the same song and dance in this lawsuit. I hope a Mel Gibson tirade isn’t around the corner or buying a round of shots for drunk co-eds. That’s about all he has going for him right now.
