Dwight Howard: Orlando First Choice, Not Following Shaq | Robert Littal Presents BlackSportsOnline

Dwight Howard: “Orlando is my First Choice, Not Trying to Follow Shaq”

by Robert Littal | Posted on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Here is the quote from Dwight and I will tell you Magic fans, why you shouldn’t get too excited just yet.

“I’m not trying to run behind nobody like Shaq or be behind somebody else,” Howard told the Orlando Sentinel Monday.

“I want to start my own path and I want people to follow my path and not just follow somebody else’s path. I want to have my own path, and I want to start that here in Orlando. But I can’t do it alone. Not only do I need the right teammates, but I need the city behind me. That’s the only way it’s going to get done. We can change this small city that we have — this small market that we have — and we can make it a big market.”

The only part Magic fans need to pay attention is this.

I can’t do it alone. Not only do I need the right teammates, but I need the city behind me.

That is a clever way of saying when he leaves he will blame it on the Magic front office and the city.  He will say that they didn’t get the right players for him to compete for a championship and then say the fans of Orlando turned on him.

The only way Dwight Howard stays in Orlando is if CP3 or Deron Williams comes.  If that doesn’t happen you will see him in LA doing Steel 2 or in Chicago being “Hollywood as Hell”.

By the way Howard can sign his extension with Orlando whenever he likes.

I hope the part of his comment mentioning Shaq was meant in good nature. Otherwise, we all know Shaq will respond with something wicked.
