Brandon Jennings Wants Kobe Bryant Out of the Drew League
Even though Kobe Bryant brought starpower and excitement to the Drew League, including a game winning buzzer beater, there is still at least one person that isn’t pleased with the presence of the Lakers’ shooting guard — Mr. Jennings.
It seems that the Milwaukee Bucks’ rising star has found another reason to hate on Kobe. Apparently, Jennings doesn’t want Kobe to participate in the Drew League, simply because he wasn’t born and raised in the area. For years, the Drew League has represented players around the Los Angeles/Southern California area and Brandon Jennings, a Compton, CA native, would prefer that it stay this way.
“He wasn’t born and raised in L.A,” Jennings told ESPN the Magazine’s Chris Palmer regarding Bryant, who attended Lower Merion near Philadelphia. “You gotta be from L.A. for Drew. Show me a birth certificate.” [...]
Show me a birth certificate … Really?
Acknowledging the fact that Kobe is arguably the most popular professional athlete that plays in Los Angeles, you would think that he would have a “pass” to freely participate without controversy. I’m sure the people of L.A. wouldn’t mind Kobe adding on to an already talented squad of local stars that have played in the Drew League such as Brandon Jennings, James Harden, and Andre Miller.
Good thing the rules aren’t made by Mr. Jennings.
