You had to figure that it was only a matter of time for this story to come out after Robert Nkemdiche was spotted celebrating on the field in Oxford after Ole Miss’s victory over Mississippi State Saturday night. Since Robert Nkemdiche de-committed from Clemson earlier this month, there have been plenty of rumors that the 6’5, 265 lbs defensive end from Loganville, Georgia would commit to Ole Miss in order to play with his brother Denzel, a starting linebacker for the Rebels. National Signing Day is not until February, but according to Ole Miss linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche, his brother Robert will commit in two weeks. Here’s a video of Denzel’s comments via The Oxford Eagle (start at 2:15):
Interestingly enough, Denzel Nkemdiche didn’t say exactly where his brother was going to be committing to play, but you can draw whatever conclusion you would like from the video. Nevertheless, Robert Nkemdiche combines a rare blend of speed (been timed at 4.56 in fory-yard dash), strength (prior to his Senior season, Nkemdiche was squatting over 500lbs, benching 350lbs, and power-cleaning 330lbs), and size (6’5, 265lbs) at a premium football position. If Ole Miss does land Robert Nkemdiche over the likes of Alabama, Georgia, and the other usual suspects, it will be one of the biggest recruiting steals in recent history.
