As I’ve been preaching to people on social network all year-long, South Carolina stud defensive end Jadeveon Clowney might be the #1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but because he’s only a Sophomore, he’d go back to the Gamecocks to get reps and work on his game.
Well now South Eastern Conference offensive coordinator and coaches around the country can get a little nervous, because Clowney is coming back to do more than get reps and work on his game, according to CBS Sports Clowney is coming back to school to win a Heisman Trophy and at the minimum be a finalist.
“That’s my next thing to get to, New York,” he said. “So next season I’m going to come here and work harder than I did this season.”
Clowney tied for the national lead in sacks in 2012 with 13 and was second in tackles for loss with 21.5.
Can a defensive end actually win a Heisman Trophy. That’s up for debate, as Manti Te’o came in second and that was only because he was close to tops in america in interceptions.
Clowney is a destroyer and will have every opportunity to at least get to New York.
So while Jadeveon Clowney is gearing up for a Heisman run, I can think of a handful of teams contemplating tank their 2013 NFL season in order to draft him #1.
