The iconic field from the movie ‘Field of Dreams’ has been sold to Go the Distance Baseball LLC (a group of investors which includes HOF’er Wade Boggs). The purchase was made for a whopping $3.4 million–actually a bargain from its initial asking price of $5.4 million.

The property was purchased from owners Don and Becky Lansing. The Des Moines Register reports that the investment group’s goal for the field is to turn it into All-Star Ballpark Heaven–a youth sports complex which will bring 12 fields and 60 clubhouses to north eastern Iowa. ¬†Construction is set to begin in the spring.

This deal is a long time coming between the investors and local neighbors of the property who took them to court in opposition of the field’s expansion a year ago.
