NBC New York is reporting that Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers was arrested a few hours ago after trying to pass a loaded .40 caliber gun in carry on bag through the check in counter.
A spokesmen for the Port Authority and the Queens District Attorney’s office said Bowers was about to board an US Airways flight to Raleigh, North Carolina.
Bowers was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. A spokesman for the Buccaneers has declined to comment as the team investigates.
He’s scheduled to appear in court Monday evening.
