Basically what Patrick Ewing is saying sans the political correctness, is that he’s salty Jason Kidd got a head coaching job in the NBA just weeks after he retired, while he has yet to get one after serving as an assistant coach for several years. Can’t say I blame him.
Ewing appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” to discuss his recent appointment as associate coach with the eternally woeful Charlotte Bobcats, when he was asked about Kidd’s hiring.
Ewing said he was surprised that Jason Kidd got a head-coaching job so quickly. “I was very surprised they gave it to him so early,” Ewing said. “I wish him well and nothing but success. … I was very shocked.”
Ewing’s son wasn’t as conservative in his opinions on the hiring, saying that he’s pissed off at the fact that his father keeps getting overlooked.
For real though I'm mad J Kidd got a head coaching job a year after retiring n my pops been coaching 10 years n barely gets a look

Who knows why long-serving assistant coaches like Ewing and Brian Shaw continue to get overlooked for head coaching jobs, they’re obviously not doing a great job of selling themselves in their interviews. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how many dues they’ve paid, it’s all about how you sell yourself when you get that interview with the owner and general manager.
