Several weeks ago, New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said that the team might be inclined to name a starting quarterback sooner than later.
Several weeks later, head coach Rex Ryan told the New York Post he’s in no rush to name a starting quarterback.
“I don’t think we’re close to that right now,” Ryan said yesterday. “The process is you don’t have to make that move [this early]. Until we feel 100 percent comfortable with that decision, we’ll just leave it to competition.”
It now looks like this battle will continue deep into the summer.
“It’s way too early to say,” Ryan said. “Some days this guy looks good. Some days this guy looks good.”
