Adrian Peterson is chasing Emmitt Smith, and he wants his rushing record bad.
Peterson has 2017 in his mind in regards to when he might pass Smith, and is hell-bent on making that happen.
Peterson is fully aware of the beating running backs take, and even though running backs supposedly age faster than most players do, the reigning MVP feels like he’s going backwards with age.
During an interview with the Star Tribune, Peterson stated that “in his mind, he’s getting younger.”
“I feel like me not realizing that helps me,” Peterson said, via Dan Wiederer of theMinneapolis Star-Tribune. “Me not thinking about, ‘Well, my clock is starting to tick, getting older and older.’ That’s not doing nothing but hurting me. So I’m thinking in my mind that each year I’m getting younger. Any way I can look at it with the most positive view that’s going to help me, that’s the way I’m looking at it.”
