Micah Parsons, a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, vented his annoyance at the Philadelphia Eagles following their 2024 NFL Draft selection of Quinyon Mitchell. The Eagles’ decision to choose cornerback Mitchell filled a need for Philadelphia and immediately improved a club that came in second place in the NFC East, trailing only Dallas.
Parsons thought the Eagles’ move was big because he knows how important marginal gains are in the NFL. Though natural, Parsons’ rage may not be well-directed. If the Cowboys had improved their own squad through substantial changes in free agency or the draft, their annoyance at the Eagles’ selection might not have been as great.
“I mean, I’m utterly disgusted on how lucky the Eagles are,” he said.
“He fell right into their lap. He checks every box. … I think this is a terrific pick. I don’t know how Howie and them get so lucky.”
The Eagles take Dallas by surprise
The Eagles, led by Howie Roseman, took aggressive action to bolster their roster, and the Cowboys stood by and observed. Philadelphia brought in Kenny Pickett as a dependable backup quarterback, re-signed C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and added Saquon Barkley to improve their running attack. The Eagles’ defense appears even more fearsome now that Mitchell has joined the team.
Conversely, the Cowboys had a very quiet free agency and lost important players like Tyler Biadasz, Tyron Smith, and Tony Pollard. The Cowboys’ offense is undermined by their inability to make up for these losses, which puts more strain on defensive players like Parsons.
