To say the New York Jets are a mess is an insult to the word mess. Jets Owner Woody Johnson implied that Mark Sanchez was to blame for his shoulder injury:
“I don’t have any regrets,” Johnson said, via the NY Daily News. “He’s an experienced guy. I wish he hadn’t gotten hurt, but you got to protect yourself, too.
Rex Ryan (who needs to protect his own job) didn’t exactly run to Sanchez’ defense:
“It’s 100% injury rate in the league,” he said. “It’s unfortunate that it happened. But these things do happen. And we’ve moved on.”
Woody Johnson later tried to back off his position and clarify but the damage has been done. It would be good if people realized that the issues with the Jets are not just on the field but in the front office and owner’s box as well. Everyone in the world knows that Rex Ryan is a lame duck coach right now and it seems they want to move on from the Mark Sanchez era as well. Just do it already.
