University of Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds will announce that he is stepping down. Earlier this month he denied he was doing so but sources have confirmed he will be stepping down. Dodds will stay on through Aug. 31, 2014, and will remain on as a consultant through 2015.
“He’s going to announce it tomorrow,” one of the well-placed sources said. “They were going to do it today but decided to wait because they didn’t want to detract from the passing of (legendary former Longhorn quarterback) James Street.”
The big impact here is for Mack Brown. Dodds has long been a supporter of the Longhorns football coach who finds himself on the hotseat. We all assume that Mack will be eased into “retirement” this offseason.
