Just days after being struck in the face by a line drive, Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman took to Instagram to show off his newly stapled head following 2 1/2 hours of surgery to insert a titanium plate in his head to stabilize the fractures sustained from the injury.
Chapman added the caption “Mi gente todo esta bien gracias a dios ya salimos de todo tipo de problema estoy aquí esperando q me den de alta,” which, when translated to English, means “My people all is well and thank god we left all kinds of problems I’m here waiting I to be discharged.” And if you think it’s amazing that the Cincy reliever may be going home so soon after having a giant zipper implanted in his head, just ponder the fact that he could return to game action in a mere 4-6 weeks. Aroldis Chapman is both figuratively, and now literally, a machine.
