Yesterday we reported about State Representative from Minnesota Pat Garofalo’s offensive tweet about NBA players. Today, almost like clockwork he offered an apology…of sorts, via Deadspin:
Hi Tim. Thanks for the email and for giving me a chance to respond. I was talking about the NBA’s high arrest rate and that their punishment for positive drugs tests are weaker than other leagues. No intent beyond that. The culture among many pro athletes that they are above the law is the problem, not people like me pointing that problem out.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that his ‘apology’ and excuse is pretty bogus–no need to even read between the lines of his tweet, he knew what he was saying.
To make matters worse for Garofalo, he’s got a long standing ‘hatred’ for the NBA which seems to go way beyond just not liking the sport:
FACT: The NFL Pro Bowl sucks almost as bad as the NBA.

NBA Draft? Ask me if I care.

NHL – triple OT, only one day off. NBA – three days off after 48 minutes of light jogging and jumping.

GREAT IDEA – How about a New ESPN channel that covers all sports except the NBA. Joke players. Joke teams. Joke league.

I could care less about the NBA with the possible exception of wanting Miami 2 lose. Seriously I'd rather watch snow melt than watch the NBA

For those who have difficulty staying away from NBA on TV – I suggest watching paint dry. Much more interesting.

This is a man responsible for helping making laws and regulations…scary. Mr. Garofalo has the ‘r’ word written all over him, and I’m not referring to Republican.
