I think I may have missed my calling.
According to a report via Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, the Detroit Tigers have signed arguably the best hitter in baseball to a very lucrative extension.
Miguel Cabrera extension is 8 years and roughly $248 million, source confirms. Works out to AAV ~ $31MM during the extension years.

With that, Miguel Cabrera (at $31MM during the extension years) will surpass Clayton Kershaw for the highest AAV in MLB.

Miguel Cabrera's total guarantee is therefore 10 years and ~$292 million. This is through 2023.

If any player deserves a contract like this, this late in his career, it’s Cabrera. He’s been terrorizing pitchers since 2003 and is only 30.
