Back in 2010 LeBron James had his pick of many teams in free agency. He obviously ended up with the Heat and has had great success there. It was a strong rumor back then though that he really considered the Clippers before taking his talents to South Beach. The reason he didn’t go to LA? Donald Sterling according to David Geffen via ESPN:

LeBron James was interested in playing in Los Angeles when he was a free agent in 2010. But James, who ultimately signed with the Miami Heat, told Geffen that he would not play for Sterling.

Now hindsight is 20/20 but this actually makes some sense. Think about how strongly LeBron has come out against Sterling since the tape came out. Perhaps it was because he did his research and knew what a racist Sterling is.

It’s something to think about.

  1. GQTrojan says:

I applaud Lebron for not choosing to play for Sterling but if more than just 1 player would have took a stand (publicly) and refused to play for the Clippers then maybe Sterling would’ve been punished for his behavior a long time ago.

  2. Beejcee says:

Plus LeBron James had just left behind that crazy a$$ Dan Gilbert! I can’t believe he didn’t get more backlash from that letter he posted when Lebron left Cleveland!
