Van Gundy is likely to name his former boss in Orlando, Otis Smith, as GM of the Pistons. The fiery coach is walking away from a loaded Warriors roster for the opportunity to rebuild the Pistons in a way that he sees fit. Pistons ownership is currently pondering what to do with Greg Monroe and Josh Smith. Andre Drummond is likely the only untouchable player on the Pistons roster.
Van Gundy, 54, has a .641 winning percentage as a head coach in stops with Miami and Orlando. Van Gundy reached the NBA Finals with the Magic in 2009.
