Michael Thomasson’s huge video game collection just pulled him in $750k at auction. Thomasson has been collecting these games since 1998 and Guinness officially recognises it as the largest collection in the world.
According to the Huffington Post Michael has over 11k games.
Guinness lists the number of games in Thomasson’s record-breaking collection at 10,607, though he said the number exceeds 11,000 now, a year after the official count and after discovering forgotten stashes of games after the counting crew left.
This is the 3rd time Thomasson has sold a collection of his games. In 1989 he sold his collection to buy a Sega Genesis and in 1998 he sold his collection to pay for his wedding. It seems as though Thomasson is setting the blueprint for gamers looking to capitalise financially on their hobby.
