There is only one Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The pound-for-pound king of boxing has quietly ignored claims from those in UFC circles who believe Ronda Rousey would have her way with him in the octagon.
“I didn’t start the whole ‘Ronda Rousey could beat Floyd Mayweather’ thing. That didn’t start with me. I just supported it and agreed 100 percent,” White said in a video from MMA Junkie/USA Today. “You take a street fight, Ronda wins that fight and hurts him badly. You don an MMA fight, same result. Boxing match? Floyd Mayweather chews her up.
“It’s hard for guys to wrap their brains around that one. Ronda wouldn’t beat him. She’d hurt him badly. She would hurt him badly,” he said. Later, he added: “You think Floyd Mayweather has ever had his feet kicked out from under him. She walks around at 160, 165. At 165 pounds, all her weight coming down on top of him, on the street, on here [a dais], on the carpet, I don’t give a fuck where it is. She’s going to hurt him badly. I’ve seen her throw big dudes and hurt him. … It’s no disrespect to Floyd. It is what it is. Ronda would whoop a lot of dude’s asses, not just Floyd’s.”
Mayweather, obviously tired of the slights and jokes, fired his own little subtle jab during the D.C. press conference for his rematch with Marcos Maidana.
When asked about Rousey by the media, Mayweather responded:
Another reporter saw an opening and decided to ask Mayweather: “What about Ronda Rousey?”
“I don’t even know who he is,” Mayweather responded.
