The honor code at BYU is serious folks. Devon Blackmon a transfer WR that originally went to Oregon tweeted out that he has been suspended for the season opener for violating BYU’s honor code. His transgression was wearing earrings. From Lost Lettermen:
“Rules are rules.. Abide by them or suffer the consequences…. Looking forward to the Texas game,” Blackmon wrote on his now-defunct Twitter on Monday night. “We have team standards. And there’s consequences if you don’t follow them, I shouldn’t wear earrings But I’ll bounce back.”
He must have felt so bad that he deleted his Twitter. BYU has their own rules and you have to live with them if you go there but this does seem strange when compared to actual crime suspensions around the country. Either way, Devon knew the deal when he went there so he needs to follow the rules.
