Josh Gordon’s decision has been made. He has been suspended for one calendar year for repeat violations of the NFL’s drug policy. Instead of taking his punishment gracefully Gordon and his camp are allegedly considering a lawsuit against the NFL.
A source told FOX Sports that Gordon’s camp is considering a lawsuit against the league that would include seeking an injunction to put the suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy on hold while the legal process plays out. Gordon’s argument would surely be similar to the one presented in his appeal: While the “A” sample was above the limit of what’s considered a positive test, his “B” sample was below it, with his stating any THC in his system was the result of second-hand smoke.
Gordon suing the NFL could allow him to return to the field this season but if he loses he risks pissing the league off even more and possibly extending his suspension. I think it’s important for Gordon to take responsibility for his actions. To do that, he has to accept his punishment and not blame the NFL for his shortcomings. No matter what your opinion is about marijuana, the NFL has strict policies and Gordon was well aware of them.
