Michael Vick is seething mad at Riley Cooper, although he’s proud of what he got accomplished.
Almost a little over a year ago, Cooper almost ruined his career after video surfaced of the wide receiver throwing around racial slurs during a drunk tantrum at a concert.
At that point most of the Eagles players wanted nothing to do with Cooper, but then-Eagles quarterback Michael Vick stepped up and defended Cooper, probably saving his roster spot with Philadelphia, and allowing him to eventually collect the 5-year, $25 million deal he signed.
Now with the Jets, Vick says he can’t even get Cooper to return a text message.
“A couple of things transpired since [the incident] that I dislike, and I’ll be honest with you,” Vick said in a recent interview with ESPN. “After he signed his contract, I sent him a text and I never got a text back, and that made me feel a certain type of way. But I’m not the type of guy who holds grudges.”
Vick made it clear that Cooper’s post Eagles treatment does not sit well with him.
“We had guys talking about knocking him out, taking his head off, doing X, Y and Z to him on the field, and none of that happened, out of respect for myself I think,” Vick said.
“I’d have you on speed dial,” Vick said of how he would treat Cooper had the roles been reversed. “That’s the only reason I say I hope Riley appreciates that. His life is his life and he played good football last year, and he was always like a little brother to me. But money should never change an individual, and I’m not saying it did that to Riley.”
