The widespread NFL underpayment of cheerleaders is at least settled for the Raiders as the team will spend $1.25 million to pay owed back wages. The Raiderettes had alleged that the team had forced them to work for free and severely underpaid them.
The settlement states that the women will receive $6K for each year from 2010 to 2012 and then $2500 for 2013. The Raiders did raise the wages for the Raiderettes in 2013, but many still asserted that it was still less than minimum wage when all was said and done.
The Raiders have since changed their policies for the Raiderettes to comply to California state labor laws according to team officials. As far as the rest of the NFL is concerned, the Bills, Buccaneers, Bengals and Jets all have pending labor violation lawsuits for their cheerleading squads.
