‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin could be hitting the squared circle for a match for the first time since 2003 if recent rumors are true. According to Cage Side Seats, there is something going on between WWE and Austin, and early indications are that it could be leading up to one final match at Wrestlemania 31.
There’s apparently something going on between Stone Cold Steve Austin and WWE. It could be as simple as a working agreement that will see WWE promote Austin’s podcast on its TV in exchange for promotion of the WWE Network on his podcast but there might be more to it. The Observer is reporting that WWE requested production on a bunch of new Austin t-shirts, so something is up.
Regarding those rumors of something being up between Stone Cold Steve Austin and WWE, he’s apparently been talking about training hard in anticipation of getting ready for a match at WrestleMania 31 in the event the two sides can come to terms. Austin vs. John Cena is a direction they could go.
Personally, I won’t get too excited about an Austin return because dirt sheets haven’t exactly proven to be 100% accurate in the past, but it does definitely seem like something is up here. If Stone Cold does come back, I would hope it’s not to face Cena, rather the best thing WWE could do is use Austin to bring back CM Punk and let the two get a main event slot at ‘Mania 31. If you’re going to go big, might as well go all in.
