The Dallas Cowboys are back, but it could cost Jerry Jones some money.
According to Jeff Mosier of the Dallas Morning News, a possible Cowboys playoff games in January could create a logistical issue at AT&T Stadium, where the college football playoff championship game will be played on January 12.
The original plan calls for the College Football Playoff to take over the stadium on Jan. 2, the day after the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. The organization would then have a long lead time to prepare for the Jan. 12 championship game, which replaces the old BCS championship. The game is expected to be the nation’s second-highest-rated sporting event of the year, behind only the Super Bowl.
The NFL’s divisional round are set to take place January 10 and 11.
A Cowboys playoff game would possibly eliminate the use of five or six days of buildup at the stadium. The turnaround from a Cowboys playoff game to the NCAA title game could be as short as one day.
