Todd Bowles has the banged up Cardinals defense roaring towards a division title and playoff spot. Arizona reward Bowles with a new three-year contract extension.
“The deal was hammered in recent days by president Michael Bidwill and general manager Steve Keim. Now, when teams pursue Bowles for head-coaching opportunities, which is expected this winter, he now will have the chance to be extremely selective about taking a job and leaving Arizona.”
The deal makes Bowles one of the five highest-paid assistant coaches in the NFL and proves Arizona is willing to spare no expense to keep its talent.
Even with the loss of linebacker Daryl Washington to a season-long suspension, defensive end Darnell Dockett to a season-ending torn ACL and linebacker John Abraham to concussion issues, the Cardinals defense has been one of the team’s biggest surprises this season, ranking fourth in the NFL in points allowed.
