I’ve said this for years and I appreciate the fact that Tony Romo is now finally getting his just do. Romo is a gunslinger, who’s as mentally tough a quarterback I’ve ever seen play.
I’m a Romo apologist because I’ve always known that with a running game, timely playing calling and game management, Romo could be one of the NFL’s elite.
The light went on for everyone in Dallas with the promotion of Scott Linehan, and that is why Romo is currently sitting pretty as an MVP candidate and Super Bowl caliber performer.
As Romo and the Cowboys prepare for their Sunday tilt with the Packers, Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report further highlighted Romo burying the demons of years past. While talking to one current Cowboys player, Romo was paid the highest compliment of all.
This to me from a Cowboys player I’ve known for several years, speaking on Tony Romo: “He always got a bad rap, to me at least. The thing that always amazed me about him was how when he would get criticized, he never showed it to us. He was always the same guy. Everyone I know that knows him appreciates how mentally tough he is. I respect him more than any player I’ve ever played with.”
I know there will jokes and laughter about the post seconds after I post this, but Romo will continue to have doubters even as he potentially gets the last laugh by leading the Cowboys to the Super Bowl.
