Larry Brown Sports is reporting an interview that BALCO founder Victor Conte had with Sherdog Radio earlier this week revolving around the drug test that busted Jon Jones for cocaine. Conte notes that of the three samples taken from Jones before the Jones successfully defended his title against Daniel Cormier that Jones’ testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E/ ratio was “extremely low” to him. And Conte does not believe that Jones lower testosterone levels could be caused by Jones use of cocaine. Conte further stated.
“The question is what was suppressing his testosterone production for that period of time. Something caused it to go down, and I do not believe it was overtraining,” Conte explained. “Exogenous testosterone and other steroids in a period of time, depending on dosage and method of administration, can completely shut your testosterone and epitestosterone levels in urine to 0. … The levels being low there can be many explanations. [People say], ‘Well maybe it’s because he was taking cocaine.’ There’s no solid science out there that shows cocaine lowers testosterone.”
While these are just speculations from Conte, they may have legs coming from the man that ran the most famous doping program. Jon Jones entered rehab after his positive test but left after one night. More and more smoke is coming from this positive test for Jones.
