Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said that suspended running back Peterson is “a good person,” that will likely return to the NFL.
The NFL suspended Peterson without pay for the remainder of the 2014 season after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault in November for hitting his four-year-old son with a switch.
Peterson will not be considered for reinstatement before April 15. Spielman spoke highly of Peterson, and said he doesn’t know a team in the league that wouldn’t want Peterson.
“I don’t know if there’s a team in the NFL that wouldn’t want Adrian Peterson on the football team,” Spielman said, according to USA Today. “If you can name me one … and I don’t want to speak for other teams … but I know that he’s a pretty good football player.”
Spielman, who says that the team can’t contact Peterson because of the suspension, said he expects the six-time Pro Bowler to come back next season and play at a high level.
Peterson, 29, is under contract for the next three seasons, and is scheduled to make $12.75 million.
“I know that Adrian is a good person, just being around him,” Spielman said. “I know he’s done a lot of good in this community. Is there a resolution? Not right now. All’s I know is where we stand today. Does that change? I’m sure it’s going to change.
