Bill Walton went on an epic rant last night while broadcasting for ESPN during the Washington vs Oregon telecast. Towards the end of the first half, Walton and Booth Partner Dave Pasch began discussing the dismissal of Washington star 7-foot center Robert Upshaw. The Huskies have yet to win a game without the NBA prospect, Upshaw’s dismissal has been reasons undisclosed but it has been speculated that he was dismissed from the team for failing a drug test for Marijuana. Bill then proceeds to go all the way in on NCAA Marijuana Policy.
“I talk every week and complain about the NCAA not modernizing the rules. Thats another rule they’ve got to modernize. This whole war on drugs has been an absolute failure across the board. Somebody’s got to step forward and were looking for Obama to step up and say ‘why are we punishing people for things that are legal? why are people languishing in jail for things that are legal?'”
Bill Walton should be the poster child for all professional sports players, on how to smoke marijuana and keep it classy. Not speculate there is no solid proof of Mr. Walton enjoying the Herbal Enlightenment, Bill is right it is time to lessen offense on college players along with professional players in every sport for the use of marijuana. The time will come when all professionals athletes will be able to smoke the Ganja freely and not just during off-season.
