Jim Harbaugh is a bright man. I’m not sure who set up the tutorial between George Whitfield’s pupil Jameis Winston and Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh — but it’s likely to yield a few five-star prospects in the future.
Winston and Bryce Petty spent time in a classroom setting with him and U-M passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch, prepping for what they’ll encounter this week.
Winston called the “experience a blessing.”
That was a blessing, to meet a guy like that,” Winston, who starred at Florida State, said in an mgoblue.com video. “I made a reference, when he was in Indianapolis in ’95, he had a great year that year. It was just an honor to meet him and all of his accomplishments and the type of coach that he is.
They were in Ann Arbor under the tutelage of quarterback guru George Whitfield, who worked as a 49ers intern last summer and has known Harbaugh for more than a decade. Whitfield is based in San Diego, which is where most of the players’ off-season training occurred until this week.
