The Kentucky Wildcats fell two games short of becoming the first team in men’s college basketball history to go 40-0.
Despite being the heavy favorite to win the National Championship all year, head coach John Calipari claims that wasn’t his main priority.
“Last year we started the season with a goal. You may think that goal was to win the national title and win all the games. It was to get eight players drafted …
“The mission statement for me would be to be a vehicle to help others reach their dreams, to be the stone that creates the ripple in their lives that goes on and on and on. Now, in our state, they want my mission to be WIN NATIONAL TITLES! WIN NATIONAL TITLES! But my mission is bigger than that.”
Well, getting eight players drafted is impossible since only seven declared for the NBA Draft. However, Alex Poythress would’ve been the eighth guy if not for his ACL injury.
It’s great to see how much Calipari cares about his players futures, but Big Blue Nation wants to win National Championships.
