The Spurs were just handed a Game 7 loss by the hands of the L.A. Clippers.
Their longtime head coach, Greg Poppovich, shares a unique relationship with his team and wanted to allow them to “take their minds off of the game and let loose”.
Well, based off of the pictures and video TMZ was able to snag, it looks like Pop succeeded in his quest.
That’s right. That video we showed of Tim Duncan and Co. stumbling out of the club and into a party bus following the loss? That was all set up and paid for by the head coach.
Our Spurs sources tell us …Coach Gregg Popovich wanted to show his appreciation to his players after they were eliminated from the playoffs Saturday night … so he organized a night out in Hollywood.
We’re told he set up a post-game steak dinner at Mastros in Beverly Hills … and paid for EVERYTHING (and this place sure as hell ain’t cheap).
Afterward, Pop hired a party bus to chauffeur the guys to Project Club L.A. — and encouraged the team to “take their minds off the game and let loose” … not wallow in their sorrows.
There aren’t many bosses out there who will insist that you celebrate after failing at your job; especially if you’re working at a highly successful organization such as the San Antonio Spurs.
Of course, he’s been with many of those guys since they first entered the league. Again – its a unique situation. Plus, Coach Pop is a one of a kind guy working at a one of a kind sports franchise. Where can we sign up?
