Born in the Bay area, T.J. Ward, a safety for the Denver Broncos, is a huge Golden State Warriors fan. Ward even has a Golden State tattoo on his side/back. But his love for the team might actually exceed his love that he has for his current football team.
Ward missed an OTA session with the Broncos on Sunday to attend Game 5 in Oakland, and the Broncos had no idea.
In a press conference, a reporter told coach Gary Kubiak that Ward was spotted at the Warriors Game and Kubiak was utterly shocked.
Said a reporter: “T.J. Ward was spotted at Game Five yesterday –”
Kubiak interrupted with a little smile, “Was he? That’s where he was?”
“That’s where he was, and not spotted out here,” the reporter said. “Any issues there?”
“No. he wasn’t here,” Kubiak replied. “It’s voluntary, like I said.”
While its an option activity for veterans, the NFL coaches and teams still require players to explain why or where they will miss an OTA activity and it’s apparent that Kubiak had no clue of the game 5 reason.
