The Seattle Seahawks have been having a lot of contract issues since the season ended. With Russell Wilson seeking a new contract before the season, and MLB Bobby Wagner wanting a new deal as well, many players have taken extreme measures to get the attention of the team.
While former 1st round pick Bruce Irvin will likely be out of Seattle after the season, the Seahawks would like to lock up their other DE, Michael Bennett. However, Bennett refuses to go to camp in July if the Seahawks do not offer him a new contract. While doing an interview with KHON in Honolulu, Bennett hinted that he might not be with the team when camp starts.
“Hawaii’s weather is great, so I’ll just keep it at that,” Bennett said. “When the weather’s not as nice as it is here, it’s harder to make that decision, so it just keeps it in my mind like hopefully something great comes out of it, but I don’t mind staying home for a little while.”
If Bennett does decide to skip camp, he will get hit with a $30,000 a day fine, so let’s hope he gets a new contract if he plans to waste money like that.
