Amir Khan has crossed the line from being hopefully optimistic to outright delusional. He’s now been passed over by Floyd Mayweather 3x in the past two years and he still seems to think he has a chance to fight Floyd.
Here’s Khan statement regarding Floyd Mayweather and Andre Berto:
“I think the Mayweather-Berto fight is done,” Khan told The Mirror.co.uk. “Berto is a friend of mine. He’s won two of his last five fights. Mayweather says he wants an easy fight, so maybe that’s the reason he’s taken that fight.
“I can’t see it being me. I’ve not had any phone calls from anyone. The last time I spoke to Al Haymon he said ‘look, Floyd’s still not made a decision. I’ll get back to you’ and he hasn’t got back to me.”
Khan is for some reason under the impression that Floyd will comeback for a possible record setting 50th victory in May and select him as the opponent:
“I still think that fight can happen because I don’t believe Floyd is going to retire after a fight like that [with Berto]. I still think that he will come back for one more fight and that could be me,” Khan said.
Khan should just realize that his window has closed and turn his sights toward a Kell Brook title fight in the UK.
