To say John Daly is cut from a different cloth would be an understatement. Daly is known for being different, thinking outside the box and not caring how people feel about him or his opinion. During a weather imposed break at the Open Championship on Saturday, Daly went live on Periscope to answer questions from his fans. Daly, a life-long Cowboys fan, was asked his opinion on the Dallas Cowboys and their upcoming season and Daly didn’t disappoint.
Daly was asked who was his favorite player.
“I love them all,” he said, according to The Dallas Morning News. “(Tony) Romo is my buddy. I’m glad we signed Dez Bryant. We have the best offense line in NFL football coming up and Darren McFadden is going roll. He is going to have over 2,000 yards is my prediction.”
Daly might have raised the bar a little to high for McFadden for several reasons. First and foremost, McFadden may not even be the lead back. Joseph Randle had a few game changing runs last season and will definitely get a fair shot to be the starter. DeMarco Murray rushed for 1,845 yards last season on 392 carries which led the league. McFadden is a 7-year veteran who has only rushed for 1,000 yards once in his career. His career has been slowed by injuries and a 2,000 yard season would be close to McFadden’s total production of his last four season.
As a fan, Daly is expected to support and believe in his team but this prediction shows that Daly believes in the offensive line more than he did Demarco Murray. McFadden does have the home run ability but it’s worth nothing if he is on the sideline.
