Jose Bautista is holding out on interviews with a certain broadcaster but he has an interesting reason to do so.
If you need some saving and don’t know where to turn, look no further than Jose Bautista because he will defend you to the end. Athletes often engage in on-air activities and that’s the root of this issue. The Blue Jays official network, Sportsnet, is in hot water with Bautista and it’s all over a suit that they made rookie Devon Travis purchase while they were on the air. Bautista feels that the network should reimburse the rookie for the money he spent on the suit.
Bautista believes Sportsnet took advantage of Travis — since it was the network’s idea to do the suit-buying special — and that he needs to stand up for his rookie teammate, who is unable to stand up for himself given his lower-echelon status in the league and with his new team. … In the six-minute-and-30-second segment, Sportsnet host Hazel Mae takes Travis to Gotstyle in Toronto’s Distillery District, where the rookie second baseman models a handful of suits before settling on a two-piece, cobalt blue Ted Baker suit, a microprint shirt, hounds tooth tie and “cognac” lace-up shoes.
You may be thinking that Travis can afford the suit but it goes further beyond that point but that sounds like the suit was on the expensive side. Will the network reimburse the rookie? Only time will tell but so far, it’s been about 3 months since Bautista gave them an interview.
