Roman Reigns was recently hit by a fan’s Money in the Bank briefcase during a match vs Bray Wyatt. Well, Reigns spoke to the Miami Herald on the incident and what went through his mind as it happened.
Via Miami Herald,
“I was confused at first. I thought Bray hit me in the head with the kendo stick. Soimmediately I was like, ‘Aww man. You’re about to get it, brother. Aww, you’re about to get your [butt] whooped,’ but then I looked down, and I could see the briefcase. So then I’m trying to piece this thing together. If you see the video, you see me stand up to where I kind of got a little bit hot. Once I was able to process the situation in a matter of seconds, I knew what needed to be done, and our security team took care of it.”
A little bit hot? I feel like such a disrespectful act would make you more than a little hot. That is your career that guy was messing around with. Sure, everything ended up fine with Reigns who was okay and finished the match, but who knows what could have happened. An inch in the wrong direction and it could cause real harm. Maybe, that’s going too much but I know these guys put their bodies on the line inside the ring and now they will have outside issues they will have in the back of their mind. Imagine a wrestler on the top rope about to hit a move when a case flies in and they land on their neck or something? I know that’s dramatic but it’s also true. I hope that guy gets more than just banned. Reigns continued though.
“It was just a bad choice by a 31-year-old man, throwing briefcases at entertainers while they’re busting their [butt] for you. Everybody was on top of it. He was escorted out, briefly after, and luckily for me, [the briefcase] was plastic, so it didn’t hurt, but it’s scary. What if it was something that could have hurt me. Hit me in the eye. I’m a character and a sports entertainer and a wrestler, but I’m also a father and a husband and a provider. So for me that’s scary, because I’m just going out there to put on a good show and provide for my family and take care of my future, and if somebody takes that away from me… For what? For 10 seconds of Internet fame. That’s tough to deal with. That’s hard to process.”
Internet fame is a powerful thing and this guy may tell this story in ten years on how he hit Reigns in the head with a case like it was a huge touchdown in his life.
