To be honest I think anyone would be upset if they were being compared to the Kardashians unless it’s for their lavish lifestyle.
The Redskins team, however, were recently ridiculed by their own “studio analyst” for being as dysfunctional as the famous reality family, calling them the “Kardashians of the NFL”.
Obviously that didn’t sit well with the players, and Terrance Knighton decided to speak his mind.
“It’s really crap to me when you hear people say this is like the Kardashians show and all that,” he said, via D.C. Sports Bog.
“That’s not in here,” he said. “I mean, I see all the stuff on Twitter — sources this, sources that — but that’s the outside stuff. We have a culture in this locker room and a unified front where we’re not going to let the distractions hurt this team. It’s not going to turn into a soap opera. This is not the Kardashians show. We’re a football team, we’re professionals, and we’re going to go out there and win some games. We’re not getting caught up in who’s playing quarterback or who’s saying what. That’s not my concern. My concern is kicking the center’s a** in front of me.”
It’s likely that Knighton is assuming the Redskins QB situation is the drama that’s causing such comparisons, to which he replies:
“But whoever’s out there, you know, I’ve got their back,” he said. “As a defense, we’re trying to get them the ball. It could be you at quarterback; I’ve got your back.”
It sounds as though Knighton is a real team player and could play for me anyday – so I’m not sure why Troy Aikman really had to pile on at the end here, making the statement now garner further National attention.
“I don’t think that’s fair — I don’t think the Kardashians are nearly as dysfunctional.”
I guess that Cowboys vs. Redskins rivalry never goes away.
