Anthony Smith, a former first-round pick by the Raiders has been convicted today of the murder of three men. Smith who is now 48 was arrested in 2011 and charged with the deaths of 4 individuals from 1999 to 2008. One of the murder cases was thrown out on a mistrial.
Smith was drafted in 1990 by the California franchise where he played until 1997. Details on the case show that those three men were tortured before being killed. He is most likely to spend the rest of his life in prison since the prosecutors determined last year that he was not getting the death penalty.
I wonder how his former teammates, who shared for several years the locker room with a serial killer without knowing, will react to the news.
