From the small sample of games so far into the season, the Lakers are not looking good. They haven’t found any chemistry yet and Kobe looks out of rhythm to put it nicely. Last night after their third loss in a row, Kobe said he is the 200th best player in the league referencing to his poor play. The Lakers were back on the practice court minus their franchise player who was excused by Byron Scott who said he told him to come back Tuesday because he was really angry with himself.
It seems Kobe and Byron Scott have a relationship beyond basketball which might not be beneficial to the Lakers. Missing one practice is not really a big deal but as a coach he has to hold everybody accountable instead he’s relying on Kobe to figure it out on his own.
“He’s going to get to the Kobe that we know. It’s just three games into the season.”
Kobe is one of the greats and he will play a lot better but with a young nucleus like the Lakers have, mentoring is a must. The only consolation for the Lakers’ fans at this point is the play of Julius Randle who has been very good posting a full stat line against the Mavericks including 22 pts and 15 rebounds drawing the admiration of Dirk Nowitzki.
“He puts the ball on the floor like no other power forward in this league”
It will be an interesting season at the Staples Center.
